We are excited to share with you what we have been up to this fall.  God has been faithful beyond what we deserve; here is a small effort on our part to give Him the credit.  Believe it or not, but our big move is upon us! February 2nd is going to come very quickly.

  • More of the Mountains

Below is an article and video from one of Mike’s instructors, Jack Sluiter.  You can read the rest of the article about mountain week by clicking on the link below the text.

Mountain Week has got to be the highlight for every candidate going through pre-field orientation at JAARS. Who wouldn’t want to spend 10 days in the enchanted Appalachian Mountains, camping out in a hangar with your favorite flight instructors and a ...

  • Mountain Week

Posted November 12th, 2011 by mapalmiter with No Comments

There’s nothing like spending 10 days flying in the mountains. While our time in Alaska last summer exposed Mike to flying in terrain larger than the hills found in Michigan, the last 10 days felt like real mission flying. Time was spent learning about ridge crossings and how to execute minimum radius canyon turns. Some of the strips that he flew into were less than 1000 ft. long and had as much ...

Sometimes it’s funny to hear people say, “Wow, you guys have such an exciting life!”  There is no denying that at times we have been places, met people, and saw things that tend to a more adventurous lifestyle.  You cannot go to Alaska or Africa without some interesting stories, but in the bigger picture we are pretty average.  We like to think that we are just keeping our options open for God.  You might ...

  • Michigan

It’s where we both consider “home” to be.  We will spend all of January 2012 in Michigan preparing for our move to Kenya on February 2nd, 2012.  While in Michigan we attend Ada Bible Church and enjoy spending time with our families in Belding and Midland.

  • North Carolina

Until December 21st we lived just outside of Waxhaw, NC at the JAARS Center.  It is here that Mike completed his technical orientation for both flight and maintenance for AIM AIR. This orientation introduced many of the skills and procedures he will need to know once in Africa.

  • Alaska

From June through September of 2010 we lived near Chickaloon, Alaska and served with Kingdom Air Corps. King Ranch, (as it is called up there) serves to train young pilots and mechanics for missions. Mike spent time gaining valuable flight experience and training. Ana worked administratively and as a Bible camp coordinator.

  • Kenya

February 2, 2012 is our current departure date. Orientation, language study, and transferring all of Mike’s licenses will keep us in Nairobi, Kenya for at least one year. Most pilots and their families are moved to smaller airports in eastern Africa after completing licensing in Kenya.
