The Bike is Sold!

…to the motorcycle.

In keeping with the theme that “everything must go”, it’s time to sell the bike.  We originally bought this dual sport motorcycle knowing full well that this will be the style of bike that we’ll most likely have when we get to Africa.  Why a motorcycle?  Well besides the fun factor, the daily commute can be cut down from about 45 minutes each way in traffic to less than 10.  Since traffic laws are different in Africa (or mostly non existent), bikes can get through traffic much quicker.  Having never ridden a motorcycle before, it was a great chance to become comfortable with the riding and maintenance in a place with regulated traffic laws (check out this motorcycle video from a fellow AIM teammate in Nairobi).  We were actually planning on shipping this bike over to Africa because the selection, price and quality is much better here in the States.  However, after a little research we found out that Kenya won’t allow the import of any vehicle greater than 8 years old.  This bike is a 2003.  When we arrive next January it will miss the cut off by 1 year…not to mention the unknown taxes and duties that will have to be paid to clear customs.  So, to our dismay it must be sold.  Anyone interested?

Here’s the craigslist ad posted below.  Shoot us an email if you know anyone that’s interested.
